Frequently Asked Coaching Questions
What is required to be a coach for the RedZone League?
RedZone League requires that coaches must fill out online coaches registration and background check information. Any coach that will be on a team the sideline MUST register. No exceptions. At least one coach from every team must also attend the coaches’ clinic and player's training camp.
Can I choose to be a Head or Assistant coach?
Yes. In general, everyone wants to be an assistant and not take on the lead role. We sometimes have to ask someone to step up and take on this lead role or for coaches to take on co-coaching roles. Some team/schools do already have coaches in place from previous seasons. In most of those cases, coaches with previous experience will be given first option to take a lead coaching role on a team, and will be notified and given contact info for those that wish to assist.
How do we set up practice locations and times?
Each team sets up their own practice time and locations. We recommend using public parks or elementary schools most conveniently located for your teams. You may practice up to 3 times per week in the preseason and 1-2 times per week during the season.
What type of equipment/resources does RedZone provide for coaches?
RedZone provides footballs, cones, & flags for every team. Balls & cones must be returned after the last game. We'll also provide sample playbooks and recommended practice drills.
Please see 2018 manual linked above for game rules & other operating procedures from last year. A 2019 manual and other coaching information/resources for the coming will be posted here.
